It was still in disk utility, but was not available to boot from. I couldn't get Linux installed to the SSD without losing the windows option to boot. Linux requires a second hard drive, unless someone else has managed to triple boot with working audio, which I doubt. Bootcamp, unfortunately, IS the solution. Too many people have issues with the Windows audio when installed in EFI.

Also, bootcamp only supports two partitions, so Linux was out of luck on that drive (if you want audio in Windows) You may be fine with just audio in Windows 10 working on your older MacBook Pro, but I wanted Linux available, as well. It's too bad Linux isn't on the SSD, but when I modified the OSX/bootcamp drive after Windows was installed, windows stopped booting. Plug up ethernet cable to go get WLAN drivers. Note: If you are using one of the Macs listed below, you should download Boot Camp Support Software instead. Partition the drive (I did two partitions, one for Linux, and one to share data between all operating systems) and installed Fedora 25 to my second HDD in EFI. Set up windows settings and install boot camp support software. Do NOT interrupt the boot sequence when it reboots several times using the option key, just let it go and continue. Let boot camp do its thing and install Windows. Assign a second partition to use with Windows via bootcamp assistant. Unchecked make USB, and download support software (I already had it saved) Plug up my USB superdrive with my Windows 10 disc inserted. Here is what I did on my 2012 MBP:īoot OSX install USB. I got the MBP to boot windows 10 setup in Legacy mode via internal DVD (yes, I had to take out my second hard drive on the MBP, I have been at it long enough to try this) because USB DVD's only boot my Mac in EFI setup. How can I achieve this on a Mac? I have tried Bootcamp created partitions, Linux FAT partitions, gdisk, diskutility. I can't do it currently due to GPT disk format. I'd like to move my windows partition to a hybrid MBR setup so I can install Windows 10 in legacy BIOS mode.

I currently have MacOS 10.12.4, Fedora 25, and Windows 10 installed in EFI with latest bootcamp support software. A common problem when setting up a Bootcamp partition can be lack of sound, when searching how to install Windows 10 on Mac. I want to install my operating systems on one SSD, and I want audio to work in Windows obviously. Mine is 2012, and EFI boot will prevent Windows from seeing the audio device. I had this a long time ago before I upgraded to SSD when my drive failed, so I know it's possible.Ī little bit of info not everyone knows about the older MBP's: The EFI support for these are horrible. Here is what I want: Triple boot setup with OSX, Linux, and Windows. I'm about done with this stupid MacBook Pro.
